The Performance Pathway.

Our methodology incorporates a web design based framework that provides the basis of a management system, which meets the requirements of ISO9001 and ISO14001.

Our Four-phase Methodology:

1. Discovery and project definition - First, we build a project team composed of key stakeholders, employees and a senior Catlow Consulting consultant (with any number of other expert consultants available, as needed). This team determines:

  • The scope and direction of the project.
  • Roles and responsibilities.
  • Project timeframe with milestones.

We begin our projects by delivering a Project Workshop that defines the process and provides the tools that can be used throughout the project.

2. Research and goal analysis - Next, we spend time getting to know the organisation and its business so we can understand the processes and procedures. We talk to the organisation’s subject matter experts (SMEs) to learn their processes and how they are fulfilled. We gather and review existing documentation and observe the organisation’s training program. This third-party analysis of documentation and training provides fresh, unbiased input that contributes to a balanced analysis and a successful solution.

We use this research and analysis to present our recommendations, usually in a brief Findings Report, which will identify what the organisation needs to do to meet the requirements of ISO9001/ISO14001.  It may include several of the following items:

  • Gap, needs, and/or task analysis.
  •  Advice to retain noteworthy existing documentation or training.
  • Recommendations for improving existing documentation or training.
  • Proposals for new approaches and/or new content.
  • Suggestions for optional, nice-to-have enhancements.
  • Guidance for maintenance and future development.
  • Definition of the initial scope of work including training requirements for employers and employees.
  • Recommendations regarding external factors that may seriously impact the success of the proposed solution.

3. Developing the Management System - Catlow Consulting have developed a web based framework that meets the requirements of both the ISO9001 and 14001 standards.  In essence this is an already established management system, which provides the client with a number of advantages:

  • There is no need to start designing a management system from scratch.
  •  It is straightforward to follow and minimises bureaucracy.
  •  It emphasises the “continuous improvement” objective.
  • The framework links to a technical library containing various tools that will reduce the amount of time required to prepare relevant documentation.
  • Presentation can be altered to match the brand identity of the client.
  • It also solves what many people find the most difficult aspect – document control.
  • It saves time and effort.

The framework is written in Microsoft Expression Web, part of the “Office” family of software.  With some minimal training, anyone who is competent with using Microsoft Office software or similar will be able to fully access it very easily.

Based on the research and input from the project team, we build onto this framework design in a way that is best-suited for a successful solution to client needs.

4. Process  and document development/technical writing – Alongside  the creation of the Management System, we get busy developing any documentation and process requirements that have been identified following research and input prom the project team.  We can also undertake any technical writing that may be required.

This may include (as an indicative list):

  • ◊ Preparation of policies and statements
  • Procedures manuals
  •  Quality/environmental objectives
  • Environmental aspects
  • Resource management, competence, training and awareness
  • Internal audit process
  • Management review process
  • Product/service conformity process
  • Customer satisfaction measurement/customer-related process
  • Preventative/corrective actions process
  • Improvement process

We will assist with and support the preparation of documentation, development of processes and technical writing using the most effective and cost efficient methods.

If required we can, in addition to the above, act as Management Representative.  This is helpful in organisations that have limited resources and involves being present at external audits to help present the Management System, evidence, processes and documentation.
