The self-assessment workshop is the first step on the path to accreditation to Hospitality Assured.

The workshop will enable you to measure the performance of your organisation against the national standard for the hospitality industry. At the end of the workshop you will have a score against the 10 steps of the Standard, together with an overall score for your business.

You will be able to see whether you already meet, or exceed the minimum requirements of the Standard, or what you need to do in order to achieve the minimum requirements.

Many businesses undertake the self-assessment and are pleasantly surprised that what they do now already meets the Standard. This gives strengthened confidence and well deserved motivation to the staff. It also enables them to benchmark their performance against the best.

The self-assessment process does not produce loads of extra paperwork. It measures what you do now against a tried and tested business model. Having got the results, you can decide to take the process no further, or to join a growing number of best in class organisations committed to delivering service excellence, who want to tell their customers and prospective customers just how good they are.

The workshop lasts a day, starting a 9.30 am with a brief introduction to the Standard for the benefit of the team in attendance. Then we get on to the main purpose of the day - talking about how you make things happen and measuring the result. We like to have coffee/tea/water/soft drinks on tap so that we can refresh ourselves as we go along. We take half an hour for lunch, so as not to stop the flow, and finish about 4.30 pm.

We will provide you in advance with a copy of the self-assessment pack - all we ask is that you photocopy it to share at least one between two. We like to get round a table with a team of no more than 8 to 12 people who are a cross section of function leaders in your organisation. It is important that someone from sales & marketing, food & beverage service, food production, housekeeping, event organisation, training/personnel/admin is present so that we can get a good cross section of opinion and understanding about your business. We will need two flipcharts and if possible a data projector so that we can run powerpoint.
