ISO 9001 is by far the world’s most established quality framework.
Every organisation would like to
improve the way it operates, whether that means increasing
market share, driving down costs, managing risk more effectively
or improving customer satisfaction. A quality management system
provides the framework needed to monitor and improve performance
in any chosen area.
ISO 9001 is by far the world’s most
established quality framework, currently being used by over ¾
million organisations in 161 countries, and sets the standard
not only for quality management systems, but management systems
in general.
It helps all kinds of organisations
to succeed through improved customer satisfaction, staff
motivation and continual improvement.
What's in it?
The Standard consists of a set of things called 'requirements': specific things you must do or have. They are the minimum requirements that have been judged as basic good practice for any quality management system. Just good business (or organisational) sense in reality. And because they are basic good practice, many successful businesses find they're already meeting many of the requirements, but perhaps not to the level required or with the consistency and discipline expected.
Who can get ISO9001?
Just about any organisation, whether it's a commercial business or not. You see, the 9001 Standard is generic: it says what you must do, it doesn't dictate how. So any organisation that wants a good quality management system can use the Standard to achieve it, regardless of size or type, industry, field or country.
How do you 'get ISO 9001'?
You must show your organisation meets all the mandatory requirements, and successfully undergo audit by a third party (ie, an external company). They audit your quality management system (not your financials) against all the applicable requirements of ISO 9001 Standard. The auditor must be duly qualified to audit, and from a Certifier or Registrar who holds the required accreditation to audit you against the Standard.
ISO 9001 doesn't have to be hard
We don't do 'quality systems' with horrible wordy ISO 9001 quality manuals, overloaded with bureaucracy and forms. We know there are far better and more valuable things to spend precious time on. Those kinds of awful, complicated systems rarely make sense to people. They don't work well, and they frequently aren't followed, except possibly by their creator. The very last thing that works is a system that no one understands!
Our document solutions process provides the way forward easily and cost effectively.
If you think it makes sense to have an intelligent quality system, one that's simple and practical, as well as flexible enough to cope with change, we agree with you. Do contact us to find out how.
